Volunteers are a vital part of Hospice Care. They are men and women of all ages, coming from many different countries and religions, who add a unique, special service to the Hospice program through their moral support and the sharing of their time with patients and their families.
Volunteers bring to patients and their families a feeling of caring, warmth and understanding. To many patients, their illness is a time of waiting for someone to talk to; waiting for the mail to arrive; waiting for the ringing sound of the telephone, and even waiting for the end of their lives. Because of this, volunteer visits to the patients might be one of the most important messages; one that shows that there are still people in the world who care about those who are suffering. The fact that someone is able to accompany them is more important than those few daily activities that he/she might be able to accomplish.
Hospice Care of South Florida invites you to become a volunteer in our program. You will become a part of a very special group of people who give time, talent, and compassion to provide comfort to our patients and their family members.
